#730 Executive Director, Australian Industrial Chemicals Introduction Scheme

The Office of Chemical Safety (OCS) administers the Australian Industrial Chemicals Introduction Scheme (AICIS) to aid in the protection of human-health and the environment by assessing risks arising from the introduction and use of industrial chemicals, providing information to promote their safe use and increasing compliance among introducers of industrial chemicals.

The Executive Director of the Australian Industrial Chemicals Introduction Scheme (AICIS) reports directly to the Minister for Regional Health, Regional Communications and Local Government and is responsible for leading the strategic and operational elements of the Scheme. The Executive Director is also responsible for leading the Office of Chemical Safety (OCS) in administering AICIS so that it continues to aid in the protection of human health and the environment through regulation, monitoring, and risk assessment in relation to the introduction and use of industrial chemicals.

The successful candidate will need to be a first class leader with substantial expert and policy advisory experience and a demonstrated record of achievement in providing advice to Government. Strong leadership credentials, professional and personal integrity, and proven influencing and negotiating skills will be complemented by astute judgement, a strong focus on results and the ability to resolve complex issues.
