ASIS is Australia’s overseas secret intelligence collection agency. Its mission is to protect and promote Australia’s vital interests through the provision of intelligence services as directed by the Government. Its work can involve collecting intelligence relating to national security, international relations and economic issues. It also contributes to Australia’s coordinated national efforts against terrorism, proliferation of weapons of mass destruction, and trans-national issues such as people smuggling.
The Assistant Director-General, Property is responsible for the maintenance and improvement of ASIS’s domestic and overseas property portfolio, ensuring high standards of design, amenity, building compliance and security.
The Assistant Director-General, Property manages a Branch of project professionals, trades, consultants and delivery specialists. The Branch works closely with ASIS Security to ensure full integration of contemporary security standards across ASIS’s network. It also works closely with business areas to meet their diverse property requirements, including for accommodation, training and other operational needs. The Assistant Director-General works closely with a range of Australian government agencies, including DFAT, Austrade and Department of Finance, as well as with private sector property specialists.
ASIS fosters a highly dynamic working environment with multiple property demands. ASIS is currently in the midst of a major business transformation program which will require significant enhancements to its accommodation, including through activity based working, in order to realise the full benefits of this program. The Assistant Director-General, Property has a key role to perform within this program to lead the various capability and business transformation elements that live within the Branch. Demonstrated experience in change management would be advantageous.

The position is Canberra based, with conditions of service similar to those in the Australian Public Service, including superannuation. (The successful candidate will be required to obtain and maintain the highest level security clearance and Australian citizenship.)
