#1081 Member of the Remuneration Tribunal

Interested parties are invited to submit an application for the role of Member of the Remuneration Tribunal (the Tribunal). This document includes information on the role (section 2) and application requirements (section 3).
The Remuneration Tribunal
The Tribunal is an independent statutory authority established under the Remuneration Tribunal Act 1973. The Tribunal’s role is to determine, report on and provide advice about remuneration, including allowances and entitlements, for a variety of Commonwealth positions, including:
- federal parliamentarians, including ministers and parliamentary office holders
- judicial and non-judicial offices of federal courts and tribunals
- secretaries of departments
- full-time and part-time holders of various public offices
- principal executive offices.
The Tribunal consists of three Members, including one Member who serves as President, appointed by the Governor-General on a part-time basis.
The Tribunal considers matters at formal meetings held regularly throughout the year (typically 6 to 8 times per year, with matters also considered out of session) and is supported by a Secretariat staffed by employees of the Australian Public Service Commission.
